October 9, 2020, would have been John Lennon’s 80th birthday. December 8th will mark 40 years since his assassination. To commemorate this occasion, the Beatnik Lounge presents a new show on Saturday, November 14th.
Between his birth — which happened as the Nazis conducted an air raid over Liverpool — to his death 40 years later in his adopted home town of New York, John Lennon revolutionized music, art, peace activism and feminism, as a champion of rock and roll, the avant-garde and psychedelic exploration. A flawed role model to millions, with an irreverent charm and a reverence for humanity, part of his lasting appeal was his willingness to expose his own imperfections — while giving childlike expression to the dream of a more peaceful world. 40 years later, his music and his message still resonates across the universe...
